Center console idea's

Yah I know there are a dozen threads about center consoles, but the question I have is, I just installed an R-151 to replace my blown w-56, I have an X-tra cab truck with the factory center console, what i was going to do was just get a piece of sheet metal and use that to cover the big hole I now have for my shifters to come through, but the boots i had didn't really work, so i had to cut them up and now it looks like , so what years did forward shift T-case's come in that still have center consoles, so i can just use one of them, or modify that one a little to fit my application?
