If you are going to be active here on the board you should register I saw a few posts on the "parts for sale" column with a "guest" selling them. As most of you know the other boards have had a problem with people taking the cash and not coming through with parts. So I think that there should be a block on "guests" selling on this board so we don't have the problem of other boards.

Guests cant post so what you are seeing is posts from people that have deleted their accounts and their name shows up as guest. Like when Nick use to be 81whatever (cant remember) and deleted his account and re-registered as TTF his old posts stayed but said guest as the poster.

I would think that unless information about these "guests" is shown/documented, they should not be able to solicit the members in any way. I realize "buyer beware" is always the best policy, but allowing unknowns to possibly prey on the membership is not something the Moderators/Administrator should allow. We should be watching out for each other.

just tried and I can't, if it is because he register ost the ads and unregister, there is a fonction on the forum(I think),
something like this "user must have # post to post in this section"

Ok I just checked on another computer here at work, if you are not logged in you do not get the reply button even showing up. Now a person can register on the board post something and then delete his profile. If he deletes his profile his screen name becomes guest, but he now can no-longer post on the board.

Thats the thing, this guy's name didnt change to guest, just his "title" underneath it

That's just the way this bb was set up, some don't even allow you to delete your profile. The guy posted this stuff then deleted his profile either on purpose or by accident. He may have even opened a new account under a different name once he deleted the other. The bb I am a moderator on will not allow you to delete your profile, you can change your srceen name anytime you want though. It's not a glitch it is just how this bb was set up to operate. I'm sure there is a command that would make it to where the delete option is not allowed and maybe the admin here should check that option if he/she so desires.

Ok, I just created a new user name and after I post this I am going to delete it and see how it looks on the board so we can put this to rest.

O, it leaves the name, but identifies them as a guest and you can no longer pm him or anything

I still show as Tester which is the screen name I selected. Once I deleted my account it still shows the screen name as Tester but the tag below says guest.

The one thing I did just notice is that the email address is still there so even if someone trys to screw someone thier email address remains so you could contact them. So even if they screw you on a deal you could still send them a nasty email

No I take that back, I just tryed to email myself a nasty letter and it wouldn't let me, but be assured that if needed the admin of this bb should have access to old screen names and all the info in the file.

Guys, if you ever see a Guest posting, then it was a former member who has deleted his own account.

Once the account is deleted, the name is released and is up for grabs. So I could delete my account, and then someone else could register as BigMike and then his posts would show up as the real BigMike and all of my posts would show up as a Guest.
