Hi ya'll,
I'm Martin, 59 yrs old from Germany, located in East-Frisia. After 10 years and close to finish my build and restoration, I thought to introduce myself.
In 2014 I started with a stock Toyota Hilux LN46 from 1983. It has a 2.4l, 2L-II Diesel now, meanwhile converted to Flatbed because the original Tub had serious rust issues.
I have always been enthusiastic about Crawlers and Flatbeds but it had to comply to the german regulations of a 'Historic Vehicle' so I decided to build an Australian-style Tray in keeping with the period of the 80's, welded on Double-Tube Smittybilt-style Rollbar with KC-Daylighter and Delbar-Mirrors.
BFG All-Terrain 33"x10,5x15 wheels. Ongoing restoration.
Cheers Martin

Dear all,
some more pics of my truck... Despite the tub the rest was in pretty good shape, minor rust to the frame and the cab, but will get a frame-off-restoration. I'm just a bit of perfectionist... or in other words, just want to do it once...
Frame and Cab are rustprotected with grease (Mike Sanders) even because of the salty conditions here at the seaside.
Over the years he was always well maintained, so technically ok.

The Flatbed consists of mild-steel tubing, frame 40mm x 80mm x 4mm, Rollbar 3".
Because its a 1-ton truck I don't mind the weight of the bed is a bit higher than original, advantage is to have more weight on the rear axle.
The planking will be in oakwood.
Suspension is completely changed to OME with 2" lift.

To honour Marlin I would like to add something to my truck, vintage stickers, badges or something like that, so if anyone has an idea, pls let me know.😉

Cheers Martin

Meanwhile at the workshop, where the frame-off restoration is underway. As expected the frame just needed a good clean and will shortly be painted and rustprotected as well as the tray. The cab undergoes some rustremoval and will soon be prepared for the paintjob. I am absolutely happy about the result so far...

Some more pics from today, as expected the cab needs a bit more work, but the tray is painted in the same colour as the cab will, looks amazing...
