My family got me an Axial SCX24 Jeep for my birthday last November. It's provided a ton of fun. So much fun that we got my son one for Christmas.

There's really no need to upgrade it if the goal is just to have fun, but I've done some upgrades because it's fun. Here's the list:

RCAWD Interco tires on RCAWD wheels (scale size 47" tires on 24" wheels)
Injora aluminum high clearance links and center skid plate
Emax steering servo with a MoFo brass steering mount and Injora steering links
Injora aluminum rear upper link mount
Current shocks: Aluminum 35mm shocks (stock length)
New shocks: Aluminum 43mm telescoping shocks that compress to the same length as stock while also extending an additional 9mm.
Planned: 33% underdrive gears front and rear

1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.

Moab Tested & Rubicon Approved

Sounds like you're hooked

For now.

I did order a higher torque motor and metal geared transmission. It might be quieter based on some reviews and I am hopeful that the dog will hate it less.

the biggest help fer mine is putting weights on the axles. keep weight low and it wont roll as easy.

I have the deadbolt, but love the wheel wideners/ weights. and the TREAL diff covers. Also rc4wd stamped steel wheels and the tires I have are scramblers

I am trying to maintain a level of realistic performance so don't plan to make it as heavy as possible. I found it cool that my long travel shocks unloaded the front end just like it would/could with a real rig
