Just moved to Saint Louis Area from CA and looking to see if there are any spots near Saint Louis to go play in the 4Runner in the snow this coming winter. One bad thing about moving from CA is that I am now 2000 miles away from the Rubicon in the summers and MET in the winter.

I guess you will have to go to Moab instead. It's only 1,200 miles though the trip will be very boring.  I've made the 1,100 mile pilgrimage to Moab from Washington State many times. It worth the drive.

That is on the list of places to go for sure.

Yea it does suck being this far away. But the freedom I have in MO over rides that feeling pretty fast. Nothing like adding my pistol to the things I grab while walking out the house. Wallet, phone, knife and trusty pistol and I'm out. lol. No CCW needed over here.

Is this correct??

"Missouri gun laws are some of the weakest in the country. Missouri has no law requiring background checks on unlicensed gun sales.
State law also allows people to carry hidden, loaded handguns in public without a permit or safety training.
Missouri has no laws prohibiting domestic abusers from possessing guns."

It's interesting that some State with less restricted gun laws have lower crime rates.

However, some States with less restrictive gun laws have very high crime rates - like Mississippi?

Is there a direct correlation between "gun laws" and crime?

One of the main reasons I moved to MO was the gun laws. I can buy a gun from a private party at a gun show and leave with it and have zero issue. Now if you buy one new from a gun store then it takes about 15 mins for a background check and I am walking out with my gun. I added my pistol to my "don't leave home with out items". Wallet, phone, pocket knife and pistol of choice that day. lol. No permit required to open or conceal carry. I am however going to get my CCW just because it is recognized in 36 other states. States that have the most restriction on guns have more crimes due to the fact that criminals are less likely to run into someone carrying a weapon. Very unlikely someone walks up to someone in MO and trys to rob them with the thought of getting a gun pulled on them right back. They target people less likely to fight back. Look at crimes in CA and NY and tell me strict gun laws work.

You need to do some research.

Conceal carry laws in one State may not have reciprocity in another State.

Carefully understanding the State gun law before transporting a firearm is extremely important.

There are States with very non-restrictive gun laws that have very high crime rates.

Missouri is #7 rank for violent crime.  Arizona is #10. Both states have non-restrictive gun laws.

Missouri is a Republican controlled State.  Arizona is split.

The United States FBI is now considered by some reports to be one of the most corrupt government agencies... Do you believe their statistics?
Depending upon whose data you believe, it may be difficult to actually find the real numbers.

Here's the top 10 States for violent crime:  Violent Crime Rates per 100,000 inhabitants (2011–2020). And.. party control.

In the last 3 years the hate crime, assault crime, violent crimes, and gun crimes, have changed.

Washington DC - Blue
Alaska - split
New Mexico - Blue
Tennessee - Red
Arkansas - Red
Louisiana - Red
Missouri - Red
South Carolina - Red
South Dakota - Red
Arizona - split

There are many factors that can be analyzed regarding crime and gun violence and any correlations that can be made.

Our 2nd Amendment protects all other rights.

Second Amendment: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

In order completely control the populace, the communists will create chaos to insight gun violence, Martial Law will be imposed, then gun confiscation is next.

OR.... all that is fake news?  :dunno:

You really believe that CA is that far down on that list? LMAO. I understand the gun laws and how the vary per state for transportation. Gun confiscation will never happen. To many gun owners that will stand up and fight back.

Hey get r done...

Actually, I mostly agree with your comments.

I've been a gun owner since 1977 and I'm also very familiar with the various States and gun laws.

As I stated, I don't necessary believe the stats being published by various organizations or agencies... they all have an agenda and bias.

There is ample evidence of the facts regarding gun possession and gun-free zone crime.  You don't have to read John Lott's book "More Guns, Less Crime".... It's simple common sense.  As you inferred, mass murderers don't target a group of gun toting 2nd Amendment advocates.

However, the research data on gun crime is somewhat contradictory.

No, I don't believe California is that far down the list today.

Regarding gun confiscation... I like your positivity.  25 years ago I would agree with you that "it will never happen", and the gun owners will stand up and fight back.  Today I'm much more concerned that there may not be enough American citizens that WILL pick up their gun and fight back.

Even if there are enough citizens that will pick up a firearm and fight, with the level of unfettered and unlawful control, and the number of people that have been hired and paid to quell any kind of citizen uprising (labeled domestic terrorists, insurrectionists – Jan 6), the fight will most likely be very bloody.
