Hello All,
Working on my truck again after a long time and have searched high and low for an answer to this and can't find any definitive information.
The original G52 trans is making lots of death-rattle type noises so it's time to replace it. I have a rebuilt forward-shift W56 (I think it's a W56-C) out of an '89 4runner but it doesn't have a transfer case.
I would like to take the transfer case from the G52 and install it onto the W56. All info I've found shows it will bolt right up but I noticed that the shifters (both are forward shift) are in slightly different positions on the two trannies. The t-case shifter is located roughly 1" further back towards the t-case flange on the W56 as compared to the G52. This makes me think the shift forks must be different lengths. Can anyone confirm this, and if so, where does one get the correct shift forks for a forward-shift W56? Don't see anything about this on Marlin's site.
Are there any other "gotchas" I should be aware of when doing this swap?
Thanks for any guidance!
