Archery Elk 2021 !

It's getting to be about that time {summer seems to fly by these days....yeah September in the Rockies } to head up to Colorado for Archery Elk Season.
Wondering if anyone on the board is gearing up for heading Out & Up ?

didnt get drawn fer elk this year but i did get drawn fer mule deer late oct early nov in az. didnt put in fer out of state tags.

edit: my hunt is with rifle though

I live around flagstaff and prefer to hunt fairly close to home mostly because i like pine trees over shrubs. my tag is fer unit 6a.

I'm in the backcut in my profile pick but yes humboldt undercut.  It was super steep ground right there.

Those of you that are familiar with the unpredictability of "high mountain weather , thought you'd get a kick out of this. 1st week of Sept 2020  Archery Elk in Colorado Rockies.......Three feet of snow starting late afternoon all night into morning and next day !

Tent collapsed on me around 4am first night, spent the morning digging out and dealing with being snowbound for 4days.
But the first morning I was able to get a fire going for breakfast and ....small " creature cumfertz 

This area I hunt is what I call "little Siberia" because of it's volatile/hostile weather at 10,000 ft and up.

its a "wild hog" from the blue rooster hunting ranch near holbrook. my folks got me a hunt fer Christmas and figured I'd cash it in.

We go for the Javalina down south. I passed on a couple of Elk this year early in the archery season in Colorado.....now when I look at my freezer I kick myself repeatedly.

I was unsuccessful on my elk hunt this year as well. could of tagged out early if i had anything other than cow elk. on the last day we had a good chance but screwed it up and out of muzzleloader range.
totally understand the empty freezer feeling. a co-worker gave me their backup deep freeze just to fill it with elk.

My favorite place to hunt where numerous elk wallows exist, a place I call "the Pit" A steep north facing multi level drainage. With no vehicle access !
