New life for 4runner
« on: Apr 14, 2005, 07:01:32 AM »
I have an 86 4runner that died  :help: :rivers:    on me after commuting 30 miles one way for a new job.  I would like to swap the body over to a K-5 Blazer and hope to find someone that has had a similar experience. :driving:   Any technical advise would be muchly appreciated.

WTF would you do that for? Why dont you just fix the Toyota? That doesnt sound logical to me nor is it a good swap candidate

why not put the drivetrain into the 4Runner from the Blazer? granted, some fabbing is involved but, unless the Runner frame is bent, I see no need of putting the Runner body on the Blazer frame. Instead, just transfer the drivetrain into the 4Runner. just my :twocents:

ok ok ok i will probably just swap the running gear.  is it hard to swap the ifs?  and is the rear axle mounts close to the same width as the toy.  i want to run with the axles from the blazer because i have a serious distrust for the duability of the toy units.  have been designed for a 4 cyl. and now might be subjected to v8.

Swap into the Runner! Throw the rest of the blazer away.

on the rear axle, you'll have to move spring perches ( easy ) and the front, you'll most likely have to outboard your springs. IFS torches off nicely, IMHO.
