I can't decide between bilstein 5165 or 7100 help
« on: Dec 09, 2020, 02:40:08 AM »
I'm running a 96 Hilux solid axle with rears up front and new shock towers.  I'm torn between the 7100s short body and the 5165.  As far as I can tell the 5165 has rubber mounts and a digressive piston vs the 7100s with a heim joint and linear piston and also rebuildable/revalvable.  The Ute is a daily driver but also sees a fair bit of dirt tracks and beach work.  I realise the linear piston might have less on road handling but I'm adding a sway bar at the same time to make up for that.  I'm running a 3uz V8 in it so I do get a bit of speed up offroad hence leaning towards remote res.  At this stage I'm heading towards 7100s, should I pull the trigger or am I missing something?

I would choose a shock that is rebuildable and tuneable..   :usa:

Honestly in a leaf sprung Toyota I doubt you could tell the difference
