I am in the process of converting my 82 yota to a 22RE.  I want to get rid of as much smog junk as possible.  Does anyone know what or how much of the stuff I can remove while keeping it running good?  Thanks for any info

Weldo

You can remove the air injection if your motor is so equiped.  It goes from the air box, through a small black plastic pipe.  then it feeds into a round plastic bulb on hte passenger side of the motor.  It follows through some tubes and pipes around the back of the head and I think it goes into the head and exits through littlte pipes above each exhaust port into the exhaust manifold.  I'm sure you can remove hte EGR valve too, but I don't know much about that thing.  I bet you can remove just about everything as long as you plug up the holes so you get no vacuum leaks.  It might be a good idea to pick up a Haynes or Chiltons manual.  They map out all the emissions crap pretty detailed, might help with your tear down.
