Howdy!
I'm in the process of rebuilding a w56 and have some questions about the input shaft bearing. FSM says to check and set thrust clearances on all gears. Does this apply to the input bearing and 4th gear clearance, or do I just press it althe way down? I'm also a little confused on the snap ring that goes around the input shaft directly in front of the bearing. When I install the snap ring, I can freely move it around the shaft with my finger. While taking the transmission apart, it was in place rather firmly. The axial play for the clip is also giving me trouble. The one I removed is 2.20mm. I currently have the input bearing's clearance at the 4th gear set at around .0039~.004. I have a 2.40mm snap ring on the way from Toyota, but it won't be enough to take up the axial play the clip has. I need one that's closer to 3mm thick. What do you guys think?
Thanks!
