Its only 1" larger than a 15".

With 16" there will be alot more options.  But most will be 8 or 10 ply tires.  Vs. 15" most will be 6 ply.  8/10 ply tires will weigh more, due to more belt construction.

I ran 16" landcruiser wheels on my 82 for a while with iroks Didn't have any complaints except I didn't like the Off-road tire options. If it was a DD with some off occasional off roading I would still have them. Fit well, looked good. Had to take them off to swap to bead locks and treps.

The only thing I've seen cause a problem is that the offset on most non-original wheels will cause rubbing with the factory steering arm.  You might have to run a spacer if you don't plan to change the steering.

I agree. I run a crossover steering on my 1st gen and had to run a 1/4" spacer to keep from hitting my tierod with the landcruiser wheels. But I had zero issues with a set of procomp steel wheels I ran. The backspacing was better than the factory LC wheels. 3.75" I think
