Figured I need to start posting to the forum as I'm seeing the need for the Toyota community. I have an 87 SAS 4runner. Dual cases, 529's, lockright's, chromaly shafts front and rear. Just broke my Passenger front axle. I had the old birfield eliminater Dana 44 u joints. Working on replacing with Longfields or the RCV 300m ones.
When I broke my axle as I backed up I broke my hub also. I'm on the lookout for an Aisin hub Ft-005. I really only need the outer cover with the 2wd 4wd selector knob.

:welcome:  Go for the RCV's, unless you can find some OG Longfield's.   :crossed:  The thing they don't tell you about the Birf eliminators is that the u-joints don't take that much more angle than the Birfs, they just don't have that small spline neck down of factory Birfs.   :turtle3:
'85 Xtra-cab, 4.5" Downey Off-Road lift, 12-15 KM2's on American Racing Baja's, Marlin's-4.88's & 4.7's, Downey Off-Road CAI, Marlin rear bumper & sliders

Yeah I made the mistake of not having my stops adjusted too so I think I was at a pretty hard angle. I bet the u joint bound up. Does anyone have the hook ups on Aisin hubs? That's what was the most disappointing is I think the axle  pushed out on the hub breaking it. Cause all the gears inside are fine.

Agree with the RCV recommendation as it is the original Longfield design.  Trail Gear bought the brand name but uses a different design that while super strong isn't the proven product that the RCV is.

I think I picked up some hubs from Yota Yard in the past that's located in Denver, CO.  If memory serves they were about $50.  You can purchase online, but if you can find a forum source you'll most likely come out ahead.
1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.

Moab Tested & Rubicon Approved

Has anyone used the new Aisin hubs from Marlin or Trail gear? Are they just as strong?
