No ramp pics,,but I maxed out the rti ramp at a local mud event last month with no problems..If you look at the last pic you can see the holes in my shackles..I am now in the middle hole instad of the last hole..I was playing around with shock hight and was in the last hole for testing..I ended up not needed to be that high so I lowered it to the nect hole..worked perfect for my runner..

Wow thats some good flex. im going to do a 7in shackle, flex joints, more weight in bed will help, better shackle angle. I should put holes in the shackle to play around with the length like you did.

Man that is some really good flex for the set up. These buggy leafs have pissed me off enouph. Have any pointers to mounting the shackle and getting the best angle? Im guessing tack weld it then see how it sits with weight on it

The mount depends on your shackle length.  A longer shackle will need the mount farther forward beings as you add length to the shackle without moving the mount the shackle starts to stand up.  With a 7" shackle Id move the mount forward about 3" farther forward of the spring eye.  Thats just an educated guess but to know what you'll need just jack the rear up and put 2x4's between the frame and spring and put the rigs weight back onto it.  That will get you very close.

mr4x42u

Yea,,thats the best way that I found..waverider has close to the same set up and his rig flexes well also..
flex is over rated but it sure seems to make the rig more secure feeling and less tippy feeling..

Yup extreme flex isnt all that usefull for much except the secure feeling it provides.  Makes it nice to not tip and lift tires all the time....

do you mean put the 2x4s in there then mark where the best spot to put the shackle hanger is? Im confused :hammerhead:

1.  Put the estimated amount of weight in the bed that you figure will be in there all the time.
2.  jack the rear of the truck up so the springs are not under any tension with the shackles unbolted.
3.  Put 3 2x4's between the spring and the frame and set the truck back onto the springs.
4.  Figure a good angle (70ish degrees works) and mark on the frame where the shackle chould be mounted.
5.  Remove the 2x4's and burn the mounts ontot he frame and bolt the shackles in place.

See its not so hard, ya just were over thinking it. ;)

Mount at 70 and then when it rests it will be more around 50 or so right?

WHITE_TRASH

You need to put the weight of the truck back onto the springs before you mark the shackle location.  You want about a 70 degree angle once the weight is back onto the springs.  Actually now that I think of it closer to 50 would be better.  mine is at about 75 right now. :ack:

Yota4life

45 is the best right? thats what iv heard so yeah, mark around 50 or so  ;)

for a shackle that long 45 would be to steep.  Id run them at 50-60.

mr4x42u

its not an exact science..you can play with it a little to help adjust ride height..nothing extreme but if you need to adjust the shackle angle a little to level out your rig by a few degrees then I would go for it..

I like my 63" Chevy springs.  They flex pretty good considering I'm still running the overloads.  My setup is 8" single shackle.  My rig is not fully flexed out in either of these pics:

DontStall Rockcrwl

buggy springs work good on some areas....unless your going up or down hill they unload to eaisaly for my likeing... unless you run a limiter of some kind.... plus axle wrap is  :headscratch:
You have all gotta be jealous how close i live to the 'Con

Yota4life

i have the over load flipped right now, but with a 2inch longer shackle i will be able to get rid of it. Maybe i should go 3 inches longer, an 8inch shackle and get rid of the over load.

waverider thats some good flex in the snow picture and you can tell it could droop a lot more. I like your truck, nice bumpers

one other thing you can do is ditch the chevy over load and run a toyota over load,,that will help with a 1/2 inch of ride hight..
cut off all the spring clamp and run a u-bolt style spring clamp on the forward side of the spring,,about 6 inches from the spring bolt down plate..waveriders rig will flex better when he tunes the spring in,,ditches the over loads and spring clamps.. :slap:

What i can also do it is cut the ends off the overloads so they are just like blocks. I need to get those u-bolt style clamps for my front and rear srings too. Where is a good place to get those at? i think iv seen them at auto zone.

What do you think about this trac bar? I called them up and they sell it for 250$, but could be easly made.

NWOR's new Ultra-Torque traction bars will not only handle the problem of severe spring wind-up form V8 equipped Toyotas and large tires, but provide suspension articulation at the same time. The forward upper frame mount features a slotted "slider" hole to allow control of spring wrap-up and allow articulation. The rear mount replaces the U-bolt/bump stop locating bracket. NWOR's rear mount allows for maximum axle movement up and down while still controlling sping wind-up. Our fully adjustable, heavy duty assembly allows precise adjustment on all Toyota 4x4 trucks.

Couple pics of Jack8542's buggy springs.  They flex great, but they are loud and unload alot.

locktup

I never had any trouble with mine and Ive run them all over the place. I now run a 4-link. To stop the noise put a small 3/4" bump stop at the end of the buggy. Casey105 still runs them with no trouble. We both used a toque arm. Snohman had buggies until the 4-link.
