first Toyota 4Runner project . . .

Mudder

You will have to pull the dash out of the truck to remove the heater core. You'll also have to undo the two coolant lines about the back of the engine on the fire wall.

My 86 4Runner had a tiny heater core, inside the center console. It was easy to get at, but the main one under the dash?! That was a butch to get to.

The heater core on my 88 got clogged up, yes it was a pain to get it out. I couldn't find a new one that had the same tubing configuration, so I took it to a radiator shop, and they cleaned it out for me. It's been working great ever since.
