Offset wheels or Wheel Spacers

I was wondering what people thought about wheel spacers vs offset wheels.  Now I saw that people worry alot about wheel spacers coming loose.  I'm guessing that problem could be eliminated with offset wheels right?  Are wheel spacers more affordable.  Enlighten the young before we spend money or break down!

Umm well it's a matter of choice I guess. I am running a wheel spacer in the front will be running a rear one if I can't find a wider IFS axle. I am using 3.5" backspaced 15x8 wheels with 35x12.50's. If you had a 13.50 or 14.50 on the same wheel it might be close to rubbing the frame.
However it's kind of necessary for me to run some kind of spacer in the front since these IFS calipers will rub the inner part of the wheel if I don't have one.

With wheel spacers can still run sorta standard backspaced wheels like 3.75 or 4" backspaced wheels which are alot cheaper.
You can find 2.5" backspaced wheels but they are pricy it costs about the same as getting 2 wheel spacers.

I run Marlins 1" spacers front and rear and have never found one to come loose. The key with spacers is you must check them often and keep them properly torqued!

i went with 3/4" spacers up front to keep the tires from hitting the springs. always nice to be a bit wider up front anyway.

Offset wheels are the way to go.  Less bolts and studs, less chance of a wheel coming loose.  Im not saying they will come loose for sure but why chance it.  Offset wheels are not that much more than spacers.  Or you could always go with IFS hubs.

I am doing all three.

Two in the rear: 1.5" spacers & offset wheels

Three up front: 1.5" spacers & IFS modification & offset wheels

That way both tracks will be nearly identicle. I want to go as wide as the stock axles can go and maybe later I'll swap over to a braced Taco rear and FJ80 front like FIREBALL's rig.

Wider is THE KING.

So it sounds like it all comes down to whichever feels comfortable on the person or the wallet eh Wider definitally is better.  I hadn't heard of running IFS hubs before though.  Thats cool.  Hey Big Mike, do you think if I asked toyota real nice the would send me a CAD file of the top shift reduction box?  brainstorming on a new part.

I had wheels custom made by allied. 2" backspace 15x8 black with round holes $55 each.  Like it says in the bible: Ask and you shall receive.

Just talk to your local freindly Les Schwab tire store.  That is where I got them anyway...But I thionk that any tire store that deals with allied could do the same thing.

fyi. more you space out your wheels, the more turning you can produce. thus working your birfs more and capoof! just make sure you relieze this before you go wider

There are lots of places that will make custom backspace steel rims.  Do a search online.  I had some made for my Chevelle by Paulsen in California.
