So this Is the trailer I have selected at this point. Please shoot holes in it if you see something you don't like.
I Have never used a tilt deck that tilts using a mounted floor Jack. Anyone have experience with this design.
I have only ever used the kind with the dampening ram.
I can see times where this could really help out.
I once tried to load a truck with the nose of the trailer down, made things difficult because the trailer would not stay tilted down.
Also, the trailer did not want to tilt with the nose down. We had to have three people stand on the tail of the trailer while I started to drive the vehicle up.
Anyone have an opinion on this brand?

I dunno that floor jack setup looks kinda sketchy to me lol. I don't like tilt trailers as it is tho.

Looks like a nice trailer. But your talking gooseneck money. I personally do not care for a tilt deck trailer. That's all personal preference though. I would go as large as you could afford. Better to have and not need than need and not have. You never know what you might be hauling. An all steel deck is the bees knees when it comes to trailers. Easy cleaning up, no wood to rot, and if your winching a dead load up it, shoot it with some oil or soapy water and it slides right on.

He's dead set on a tilt so that he can haul non running vehicles up it for his side work.

That can still be done with a non-tilt.

i would go with #2 with a mechanism to power the tilt up if you plan on dead vehicles. that is how my trailer works with a cherry picker ram and i cant tell you how many times i have been glad i could jack up the front and make it tilt when a vehicle was non running and had flat tires.  also works better for non vehicle loads like gravel firewood, trash etc.

that being said i paid about the same for my PJ with nicer diamond plate fenders. I would also look to see if the tires are trailer tires and what the weight rating is. alot of trailer manufacturers put horribly cheap tires on their trailers from the factory to help their retail cost.

I looked at the PJ trailer you are using. I was not sure about the split it does and how it lifts the front set of tires.
Any draw backs or issues? You have a trailer system I have not seen in person. If you went to buy a replacement trailer would you get the same one again?

I have to say, He has a good point on the ability to jack up the front of the trailer when unloading. I have ran into this issue before. I found that it also helps when you are unloading with the rear of the trailer up hill.
Winching on is easy but coming off is a different story. OK leaning towards the #2 trailer at this point.
Can anyone give me more info on the trailer tire concern. Load rating? trailer only tires? Not sure how to tell if they are cheap-o tires or what I am looking for exactly?
also I am going to need to mount a spare tire some place. Suggestions? Picture would be even better.
Anyone have a recommendation of where to get a complete spare wheel tire? I am sure the trailer place is not a good option? Online?

actually this PJ is the second trailer of this style i have bought. Before buying the enclosed to move from alaska i had a 7K H&H tilt with the same mechanism (http://www.hhtrailer.com/products/steel-open/tiltbed-trailers/mx-speedloader-manual-tiltbed/) that i bought used for a really cheap price. after i sold the enclosed to look for another open trailer only thing i wanted to change from the H&H was i wanted 10K for added capability. I wanted to be able to haul a full size truck and the 7K trailers really only have a load capability of 4,700 once you factor in the trailer weight itself of 2,200.

I had actually contacted H&H to buy a trailer from Iowa when i found the PJ and found a dealer local with one on sale.

if i was made of money i would love to get the electronically tilted version but that would be lazy and go against my KISS mentality.

I have more pictures or the trailer up:

The sidewall will say they are for trailer use. If it doesn't, they aren't.

It's a 14K pound Tilt trailer? 18ft....
Not a 7K or a 10K....
Also Tilt Deck adds $$$$.....

Could have picked up a 25' used basically new steel deck gooseneck for the same price. And if you have seen 7k trailers for that price they must have been gold plated. My buddy just picked up a carson steel deck 10k for 3k and added a 8k winch and box still under 3,500. Not knocking the buy, just seemed expensive to me that's all.

Washington is crazy expensive for everything.

Funny thing is my sister just visited a friend in Seattle and was talking about how expensive it is over there lol. I live in the Central Valley there is a trailer dealer or manufacturer in ever city  within 300 miles of me. That being said, a lot of farmers sell trailers cheap that are in great condition. I prefer a gooseneck personally because they just tow better. If you don't mind me asking...what was the reason for the 14k trailer?

Finally!!!!!
Trailer day has come.
$4295 for trailer
$150 for correct trailer spare tire and wheel.
$100 for moveable spare tire holder
-$150 refused to pay the Transaction and paperwork fee.
Total out the door $4926
It's so beefy, box tube frame.
Tow capacity of 11,400
I could not be happier!
I'm going to continue this thread as I upgrade and modify the trailer.

I plan to use the trailer winch to drag up a Dead cars on occasion.

Everyone runs the harbor freight one. It holds up fine it just has a terribly slow line speed. Which doesn't matter for a trailer winch.
