I'm really starting to think that has much more to do with wheels than tires.

Willard

I dunno I had to balance the 37" km2's. A 40" tire and no weights sounds like a well designed and constructed tire.

back in 1989. I was running 39x18.5x15 mickey thompsons, had to take them to a semi truck place, that shaved the tires to be round, the tires where like an egg, lost almost a 1/3 of the tread, but because they where trued. they lasted almost 5 years

Most of the balancing required is for the tire. From my experience quality tires require far less weight.

SqWADoosh [04:19 PM]: *sigh* I guess Chris is right and I just need to wait until I'm in a place where I have a tow rig and trailer before I get this caliber of truck
Mudder [08:28 PM]:   not try to be a jerk, but are you serious bestgen?
Prismo [06:11 PM]:   Done, time to relax or as Bestgen says....FREEDOM!
HogCanyonHopper [06:54 PM]:   I like my little rod. it gets the job done
H8PVMNT [03:30 PM]: I can go both ways.

So I was able to test out the tires on some rocks and let me tell you, they exceeded my expectations. Hook up great on boulders, mud, they clean out well. Also they are not that noisy on the road. All in all very impressed.

What did you pay per tire and who through?

Willard

I think it was 512 per tire. And I got them through my buddies dad he owns the local cooper tire shop.

Did you ever take a tape to these to see what they are measuring at?

mudmaster

I know someone with some of the previous generation 35" ProComp mudders on a FJ40 and he hasn't had any issues.
Time to go wheelin!

I haven't measured a tire unmounted yet. Still waiting on my 5th tire. Mounted and at 25psi it measured from center hub to top of tread @19 3/4" so that tells me 39.5". When I get the 5th tire I will get a solid measurement just tire alone. It also depends on rim width I imagine. I have a 9" wheel.

What are your thoughts on the cooper STT pro's?  I fugured you have had plenty of time to get a feel for them. I am seriously considering some 37's

Willard

Just ran the Rubicon with them and they are awesome. Actually there was about 3 other rigs with the same tire as mine in size and they said the same thing. Traction was great and they bead up great aired down. I recommend them to anyone interested. Actually quite a few people convinced themselves to buy that tire after seeing them work on my rig.
