So, my day started out like this.

Me headed up to Browns Camp.

Well, I went all the way into Browns Camp campground, only to find it locked up.  So, back I go towards the hwy, where there is another parking lot, called Rogers Forest Park.  Where there was an organized event, Toys for Tots, put on by TITS Offroad. (Trucks In Tight Spots)  And this is where I was ended up meeting ExCabSwap.  We BS'd, watched some cool and not so cool rigs, I gave him cheese and curds.  He showed me the bumpers he was advertising for his boss's company.  http://nwtrailinnovations.com/  He gave me a package.  And this package had been driven to Grants Pass, and dropped off at a guys house.  Then a friend of ExCabSwap went down and picked it up.  And ExCabSwap brought it to Browns Camp for me.

Here is the package.  It still had zip ties on it.  When I got there, I opened it, and had a handful of people standing around asking what was in the box.  They were cool, then jealous that I got it for free!!

And what was in this package?  The coolest thing ever!!

Once I got it out on the workbench, I had to clean off the all important stampings!!

I counted the splines, I thought Dan said it was 23 spline, its 21, so I will need to make some orders to Marlin.  Time to save up my nickels.

And what is that you see in the case you ask?  It seems to be 4.7 gears!!!   :willynilly:

Here is the post that got my parts to me!!

I have to say, there is alot of really cool people out there.  It reaffirms my faith in humanity.  There are good people out there.  Thank you Dan, ExCabSwap, and your friends that helped out along the way!!

My next thing is to tear it down and clean it all up.  There is metal shavings all over the unit.  I want to make sure none got in it, and make sure bearings and seals all look good.  Along with some extra goodies from Marlin.  23 spline input, a new multi flanges for the rear, and output seals.  There is some teflon tape in one of the outputs.   :headscratch:

It was a deal and Dan thought of me, and how long it was taking me to try to turn my truck into a crawler.  And it only cost me some gas money and cheese!

I have the BEST friends!!

thats awesome cheesy! i never ran those cases, just bought em on a whim, so a good cleaning and inspection is in order, i wouldnt be surprised if it needs a bearing or seal here and there. all the other parts make it safe?

Cheesemaker

I plan on tearing into them.  I will have to anyway to put in a 23 spline input shaft.  There are a couple odd bolts that look like they got dragged across something.  But just looking down into the shifter holes, things look good.  And when spinning the input shaft, the gear oil comes oozing out of the lower bearing assembly, the oil looks clean.
