I know its been done but want to hear members experience with this install. I currently have a 5mge in my toy and have a few sm465s hanging around. Im thinking about the possibility of throughing one behind my 5mge with a single 4.7 case. Love to hear from others about there experiences.

I have a SM465 in my Chevy 1 ton and while it is tough and the granny low is great I would never, ever want one in a Toyota.  These things belong in a tow truck.  The strokes are so long and spread out there is no way you could do any quick gear changes while doing sporting driving.

That's my opinion based on driving one.

I do agree with you there, they are definitely not meant to speed shift, tough as nails tho. that 6.55:1ratio is pretty sweet, then combined that with duals.

With 5.29 ring and pinions you would have a 180:1 crawl ratio.

That would be one low geared tank!  My 1 ton almost qualifies as a crawler with that granny 1st but it tachs out at about 65 mph in  "third"  and goes from 11mpg to 6 mpg at anything over 55 mph.  It has 4.56 gears in the 14 bolt and a big block which doesn't really help :) .

Don't let my opinion sway you.  It would be cool.
