I just painted the top, fender flares, and grille on my 4runner black and the rest needs to be painted.  I'm thinking about leaving it snow camo but re doing it so that it looks better but I came up with the brilliant idea of painting it to look like the new digital camouflage.  I have no idea where to even start.  How would i do it and make it look good?  Any ideas?

I dunno how you would do it as small as it is on the fatigues, but if you made the camo bigger, you could make some sort of template, cut posterboard or something, then spray a base coat, and go from there.  Just cut some patterns out of posterboard and tape or hold them up, if you are using spray paint.  That is how I started to do mine, but I gave up and went with the slashes :yesnod:  Hope I helped

THat is going to be alot of work in the detail in order to make the digital look good...especailly since ods or it just going to get scratched up on brush and rocks

Snow camo has been done too many times imo, I agree digital camo will be a pregnant dog to do but you have got to post pics if you do it

I dunno, snow camo was always one of my favorites, if its done right.  I think camo would look better if it were painted with sharp lines, like if you masked off the patterns instead of freehanding them.  It'd take forever, but I think it would look great.

Thats what I always thought too.  Thats what i'm going to do if I paint it digital or snow camo.  If I deside not to camo it I think it will just be olive green with black accent.  I was just seeing what others thought just to help me with my decision.

I really like the idea of all olive drab with flat black accents!  It'd be like a military Toy!  I'd like to see that.  I'll keep that in mind when I wanna paint my truck.

I think theres a company in Coronado, Ca ( www.apewraps.com )that might have the digital pattern already on vinyl graphics, I saw it at a trade show last year. I'm sure it'll cost an arm and a leg to get it made to fit your rig.
Ivan Stewart uses them on his son's race truck and 4wheel posers used them for their Posercomp trucks instead of getting custom paint jobs .

I'd love to do that but i've found my arms and legs to come in handy on several occasions so paying for it would be out of the question.  Thanks though...that would kick :moon: though.

The military designed digital camo to help protect troops from infarred nightvision goggles, it is realy pretty amazing how much it helps. The digital design folows the technology in news paper pics comining a lot of tiny dots to make a picture, if you made a couple of templates for each color and over lapped them I bet it would work realy good.
Sounds like more tree huggin hippie bull :pokinit:

burnyota

how about painting it like the german afrikan core, beige with a palm tree, or jungle camo?

I think it would look great just olive drab with black accents.  Maybe spray some stencils that say Toyota or something like that.  I think that would be tough lookin' and also very unique.  Never saw one painted like that.  I've seen chevys and dodges with that military style paint, and they look great.

I'm thinking you should do the olive drab black accents.  But maybe I'm biased being as I'm flat black with olive drab accents.  Working on stencels as we speak too! :usa:

I think i'm going to paint it live green with black accents and maybe paint a few tread marks on my hood with a big toyota emblem half on the hood and half on the fender or something :dunno: ...i dunno but the digitall camo would be to hard :-\\  and i think i'll let my friend jeff try it on his samurai first  .  If i like it then i'll do the digital but until then i'm just going to go live green with black accent and maybe a few things here and there.    Thanks for all the input guys. :beerchug:

Ok the digital camo was a good idea but a pain in the :moon: to do so I scratched that.  Now i'm going to just paint it olive green and put some kind of a pattern with a picture, symbol, or design.  I was going to do skull and cross bones but thats not original...Give me some ideas.  I want original and nothing comercial.

The tread design sounds pretty cool, and you could integrate Toyota 4x4 into the thread pattern?  :dunno:

So what exactly do you want, a tough look, or something clean. Why not just paint it one color and do some pinstriping. Nothing big, just some accent, like a blue truck, with darker or lighter stripes? Or an orange, or red with black stripes. You could leave your shell black, and when you get some bumpers, you can paint those black too. Good accent

:gap: I'm just going to rattle can paint it.  I just dont want it a plain color :nope: .  I was thinking of keeping the black accents and painting it olive green and then do some kind of graphic pattern or design on it in black to match the accents.  :dunno:  The tread pattern seems easy but I'd like to get some other ideas before i deside. Oh and it has to be somewhat original...no flames or lines. :nonono: Thanks for all yer  :help: and ideas...keep em coming

Here are some patterns that are made for models, you can make some similar out of cardboard, or just use masking tape, then rattle can .
