l52 swap

hello everyone, I'm trying to install my l52 but just wanna make sure I'm doing this right. Do i have to take the shift lever retainer and the case cover to get my shifter out?

sorry bout the newb question. after trying to figure it out all weekend. I messed with the shifter a lil, and pop out it comes. With 2 fingers and a twist

There is a push and turn collar that retains the shifter in the housing.

Remove it and pull the shifter right out
