Mine came with bearings, synchros, gaskets and the 2 main seals. It was a r151 kit but the w56 kit should contain the same parts.

W56 is a easy one to rebuild! I have rebuilt them, but last time I didn't have the time and took it to a Puyallup Trans and had them rebuild it for like 300
If you see it, its for sale.

Did they do a good job? $300 sounds pretty fair. Seatac trans quoted me 6-$900 a few years back, but I wasnt providing the rebuild kit then.
Rebuilding it myself would be pretty satisfying, I'll have to look at the fsm and see what all is involved. I know i'll need to get a press and bearing pullers at the very least.

Yeah. And you will have to make a few special tools. I made mine with a simple hole saw and plate steel. I think I have a pic somewhere. I will look for it
If you see it, its for sale.

Thanks, Those tools look easy enough to make. I think I'll give it a go when the time comes.
My dad just picked up a rolled 2000 taco and wants me to put the 3rz in his 4runner and my 22re is over due for a rebuild. So, I gotta deal with that first since the trans is just high milage maintenance. I was going to buy a engine frome 22re performance but your build has about inspired me to attempt rebuilding it myself to :beerchug:

Was that 300 with them providing all the new parts or just labor?

:therethere: You must be slow moving, I stared at that add for a week before I decided it was to good a deal  to pass up. Didnt you just get a crazy low mileage transmission?

I got the w56 rebuilt kit from MC and came with the wrong set of gasket, I complaint to Marlin when I saw him at the Petaluma California swap meet and he was suppose to be call me the following week. July 2014. Beware.
