California Trip 2014
« on: Jun 17, 2014, 09:26:44 AM »
Well folks, its that time of year.  It's summer and its our annual pilgrimage to California to see family once again.   (well we didn't go in 2013, things didn't work out)  The last time we were down, I got to have with Mike, CJ, Turbo, and Chris aka "Tranny Guy!"   :rofl2:  That make me laugh.  Usually we go mainly to see family and a Disney trip.  But this year, funds are tight, the main objective was to get the family together to honor some past family member's wishes, to have their ashes spread.  So, after 12 years of them sitting in boxes in my garage,  :shake_head:  I finally got the mother in law, and her sister to finally set a date.

So, our itinerary is this:

1.  We leave tomorrow, June 18th.  But straight down to Kingsburg.  One long push, which isn't too bad.  I've driven straight from Yellowstone to Fresno in one day!!   :yikes:  Yes, with 7 in a van and in 100+ degree weather, that was one to test fatherhood!!

2.  Thursday, I plan on seeing my favorite stop, MarlinCrawler.  Get some parts, small ones, not the biggies, cause remember I'm on a budget this year.  See the Marlin family, drop off cheese, and maybe leave with some chips and or cider.  And some good laughs!  Gotta get there early since Mike said they are getting ready for Rubithon.

3.  Friday, we were figuring out on whether to go to Yosemite, or Kings Canyon NP's.  We decided on Yosemite.  Everything we want to see is in one canyon.  So, it will be a trek to get there and back in a day.

4.  Saturday, we will be heading down to Riverside, (or Garden Home actually) to visit wife's cousin, LaDawna.  Her deceased husband (Dean Tyler -  4thewknd) used to work for Marlin and many of the OG here remember him fondly.  We will chill there for a couple days.  We added an extra day on with her, because she decided that she wanted to take us to Knott's Berry Farm.  Shhh!!  :lipsrsealed:  Cause she wants to surprise the kids.  This will help supplement the wife's addiction with Disneyland.

5.  Tuesday, we will head back up to Kingsburg.

6.  Wednesday, we head up to Redding.  This is were we are spreading their ashes.   I'm not saying where, because I know that disposing of human remains ie: ashes, can be frowned upon.

7.  Friday, we leave for home!!

Along the way, we will gather random items, like real Sudafed, since its legal to buy in California, and not in Oregon without a Dr's note.  Damn methheads had to screw up a good thing.  Alcohol, since its cheaper in California than in Oregon.  Pick up parts from members.  And fill our belly's with In and Out Burgers!!

I've had a couple members PM me about doing a trip in the hills, but not on this trip.  We just have way too many stops to make.   Maybe next time when we are in a town longer than a couple days.

Will post up when we return!!  So, hope that we have a safe trip!!

So far, we drove 833 miles in 15 hours yesterday.  Traffic was good, weather wasn't too bad, and the AC worked!!

And this morning, I spent too much time at Marlin's shop.  That's what the wife said.  And after I talked to Dave for an hour, Marlin himself came over to give me a bad time for taking up too much of Dave's time, then Dave looks at Marlin and told him to show me the diesel.  Then Marlin got all EXCITED!!!!   :willynilly:

Then I finally left with the extended braided brake lines, the new clutch braided brake line, and some new driveline bolts.

We are doing Yosemite tomorrow.

So far this trip, we have had some great time visiting family.  Hit up Marlin for some extended braided brake lines, and the clutch line, and some spare driveline bolts.

Hit up Yosemite. Saw Bridleveil Falls do the reverse water fall, got some picts, but won't know how the turned out until I get home.

We are now down in SoCal, visiting cousin LaDawna, and we got to finally meet her new husband Rod.  Who is a hoot, and a way cool guy.

Going to Knotts Berr Farm today, LaDawna's treat.  I haven't been there since I was 6.

Then back to Fresno tomorrow.

And tomorrow, we leave for home!!  SOOOO ready for my own bed.  We have stayed in some really cool places, and done alot, but I am ready for home

So, goodbye my good friends, and California, until we come back again.
