Anyone have a 5VZ-FE here?
« on: Jan 23, 2014, 09:21:19 PM »
It seems most here have older engines.  22r/re etc.   I was reading the 3RZ knowledge base thread and enjoying it.

Would there be enough interest for some similar threads.  20r, 22r/re....And especially the 5VZ-FE.  MY MOTOR  :attention::clap:

I did a 22re to 3.4 swap last spring. Runs great and I really enjoy the added power and torque. As far as a sticky thread with info..... there just are not enough documented builds on here for that. As it was I kind of cheated and used the donor electrical, instrument cluster and steering column. So in reality the only true tech for my swap is the motor mounts and fuel line re-routing which were poorly documented by me.

I know there are more swap and 3.4L info elsewhere.  But I like Marlin better, so I asked.

Are there enough of us to warrant a dedicated 5vz thread?  I have the FSM and would be happy to share it and anything I've learned(which isn't much).

Two things though.  I don't how to send it at all, and if I did post it, I don't want Toyota to get mad at Marlin and BigMike.  They made TTORA and others take it down.

You could try searching our forum quickly with Google, using search queries like...

site:board.marlincrawler.com 3.4 conversion

site:board.marlincrawler.com 5VZ conversion

site:board.marlincrawler.com 3.4 swap

site:board.marlincrawler.com 6cyl swap

Et cetera, just some quick searches to see what comes up... I'd say that if there are enough dedicated threads then you could pull image links from those threads and start like an Official 5VZ Swap Registry... I'm sure this would become popular as it would be a unified place for people to discuss the swap and get feedback from those who have done it.

You know what Wainiah, despite what others say about you, you are an o-k dude

It seems to me you are asking about a thread with just information about the 3.4L?

It didn't appear you were asking about a 3.4L swap since you already have a taco with that motor.

Yes I have the 3.4 stock in my 2000 Tacoma

Maybe I should not have used the 3RZ thread as an example.  I was just thinking of a single thread for each different motor.  I guess  these threads will develop on there own.

If my thought was not of interest, well, I have my answer.   Sorry for bothering the forum.

No not a bother at all.

That sounds like it would be a cool idea.  I just think most people assumed you were asking about 3.4L swap section, which would be cool also.

I swapped a 3.4 into my 88 that had a 22RE. Most of the info I found was on another forum so my build thread is over there. I'm willing to share any info I can though.

I had the 3.4 in my last rig a 91 extra cab on one tons with 39.5 irons. I loved the fact that I could run down the highway at 70 mph and still have some passing power  :smokin:
