Topic: 3vze/3.0 random wire question

Its an 89 4x4 with the 3vze. On the thick wire loom coming from the pass fender to behind the cam gears there is a black with a white stripe wire that comes out of the loom rite where the temp sender for the egr comes out. It has a grey plug but mine has no wire out the other half of the plug. Is this normal unused or ground? With the truck running this wire produces a very small amount of voltage .05 or .005 cant remember now but its open loop when the truck is off.

If you could post a picture of the connector & the related harness section that might help. Is it part of the wire bundle that goes to the back of the intake by chance?

I can't post a pic... I'm not sure how much more specific I can be than in the description I gave already... Big loom on passenger fender(left side when looking at it standing in front of the truck). It comes off the fender towards the engine(to the right) behind the cams, timing belt/cover(big black plastic cover on the top/front of the engine, v6 3.0 3vze). In between the fender and the engine a wire comes out of that loom and goes to the temp sensor on the egr(rusty thing with accordion tube from exhaust hanging off the left front of the engine). Rite next to that wire to the egr there is a black wire with a white stripe that has a grey plug that comes out of the loom in the same spot... mine just hangs and I'm wondering if this is a ground or not.

White with black stripe is normally a ground.  I can see about diving into the FSM if I need to.

Prob no need for the fsm as I'm sure there is a ton of these trucks with the 3.0 and at least a few here on the board and hopefully one who will go pop the hood and take a look
