Might be a stuck open or broken apart thermostat which the coolant temp to not reach normal operating temp and cause the engine to idle high.

My buddy's funrunner had the same issue. drove fine for years and started having similar issue like yours. coolant gauge stop sitting mid level, rig high idles when comes to a complete stop, then temp gauge reaches normal operating temp and high idle stops. As soon as he gets up and going, a few stop light later, same issue.

That might be you problem...

just my .02 cent :)

Going, going, gone

still haven't had the time to really mess with it yet but ive noticed when I come to stop sign or light if I tap the throttle it'll idle down to 1100 down from the 2k an stay there till next time I stop

ill grab a new thermostat an a throttle body gasket and probly good idea to get couple feet of vacuum line while im at  it

ok so i found out that it didn't have a thermostat at all most the time now with one it'll idle at 1100 some times it'll jump up to 1800 that normal?

temp stays in the middle of the gauge now

i didn't have enough time to pull the throttle body today ill do that tmr

Mines been being weird, low hose never gets hot, pretty sure its burped of air and  a new t stat. I think the dashpot is the issue. I can push around on it where it contacts the linkage and it drops to normal
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

X2, call more than one if you don't get a yes the first time.

Since the PO didn't do the HG recall, they likely missed the steering relay rod recall 6-7yrs ago as well.
