aisan carburetor + Pine Sol
« on: Apr 06, 2013, 11:02:10 AM »
I found this neat and cheap way to clean an aisan carburetor. Instead of using a carburetor dip I used a bottle of regular pine sol. I cut the top off a gallon milk jug,  dropped the carburetor parts in and poured the pine sol. I had to add some water to completely cover the carb parts. I let it sit for around 4 hours, then I pulled it out and sprayed the parts with brake cleaner. Then watch as the dirt and gunk comes right off. Works great and is eco friendly!

Example of how dirty it was. This carburetor is not as bad as the one I cleaned.

Only Pic I took of my carburetor.  :smack:

This is how it looked after!

Now its ready for a rebuilt kit.  :beerchug:

Good to know.  At first I thought about the gaskets and how it would react, but since your rebuilding anyway!!

That is a great idea. I am going to find something in my garage to try it on.

Hate to burst your eco bubble but Pine Sol is not eco friendly at all, in fact it containes toluene, which has been linked to pregnancy complications, birth defects, and developmental delays in children. With that said I don't think you will be getting pregnant any time soon. Sure made that carb purdy.
