Hello all I am looking to get back into it again. I sold my last rig shortly after "completing" it. BIG mistake and I have regretted ever since. Especially this yr as I hear about and see my old buddies going out and having a good time.

I am now looking to buy another 1st gen runner. A big concern is getting the motor swapped out asap. I can't stand the 22re I have had nothing but bad experiences with the ones I have had. Looking to do a 2.7 or 3.4 swap. I no longer have access to a shop and tools like I used too. So now I would rather drop it at a shop to get done. From all the forums I have read most folks just do it hem selfs.  Any one know of or have a shop that is capable of the task. Most likely going with the 3.4 to a 5spd

Thanks!!
got another 85 runner. build coming soon!!

No power, never pass smog, strange idle problems, timing problems, classic chatter, mine never start on first crank, always with a check engine, some strange head and oil issue burn through my cam. More than anything they are weak. On the central coast (SLO, Santa Barbara) hills everywhere you go was Hell. Quests grade in 3rd or 2nd depending on load. Ughhhh I HATE!!!! the weak underpowered 22re. I had a 22r that did better for me.
