Knuckle stud question
« on: Nov 11, 2011, 10:46:28 PM »
Was wondering what parts and what order? First cone washer then flat washer? Or cone washer, flat washer, then wavy washer? Mine disappeared and don't remember what was there. I was going to order from marlin but I got thrown off when I seen the wavy washer? Any help would be appreciated

I just bought all this stuff. Cone, wavy, then nut is the way mine was. Didn't have two washers on mine?

I'm the same way but I ordered the ARP studs from front range and I wasn't smart enough to look at marlins kit to see what it came with.   Damn it!!!

The last axle I did, I think the flat washers are on the bottom trunnion and the waved washers on the upper trunnion cap, I do have a stock axle to double check that but good attention to detail for sure,

Was wondering what parts and what order?

I added images to the right side of each product on our website to show the proper assembly order, like this:

Or cone washer, flat washer, then wavy washer? Mine disappeared and don't remember what was there. I was going to order from marlin but I got thrown off when I seen the wavy washer?

The wavy washer is only used on the bottom side of the knuckle between the nut and the lower cap. I updated the information on the Wavy washer's product listing to reflect this information

Thanks!

No wavy, or any lockwasher.  That would simply ruin any torque measurement.  If you run locking hardware then you need to test the torque and do a bit of subtraction  :gap:

4RunnerChevy is right. Only a flat washer should be used between the cone washer (which is the locking device) and the nut. If you use a split washer, it's gap may interfere with the gap of the cone washer :nonono:

Its the little things, the details stuff like this that adds up, may seem trivial, but with all the folks with knuckle studs coming loose, I wonder how many took note of the difference,

I must admit that I did not notice this detail in the first axle I worked on,

Thanks for dialing that in Big Mike, I checked the stock axle I had kicking around, yep lock washers on the bottom , Flats on the top,

I am not sure, but hopefully before summer time. We are currently working on front and rear bumper redesigns but due to how many Rock Sliders we've been selling, its taking our fabricator a bit longer than usual to finish with prototypes.

Just curiuos, no biggy. I ordered mine seperately. Are those rotors the Allpro kit or you get them elsewhere. Your setup looks good.

the rotors are from ebay. the red brake lines i had made locally because the all pro lines didnt hold up as a ground very well when i was welding the shock hoops!!!! so they melted :) :) :) :)
