Turbo Transmission
« on: Nov 14, 2011, 08:11:07 AM »
Rather new to Toyotas and have been offered a supposedly R151  transmission.
Is there any way a newb can be sure this is a turbo trans?
Sorry if this is a dumb question and thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the help. I went ahead and picked up the transmission, but passed on the engine.

So was it the R151F? Get the Tcase? These are 23 spline trans output/T-case input shafts.

All the others have 21 spline.

It is a 23 spline case out of a turbo truck. The guy is putting a V8 in the truck and had already sold the transfer case.
Still has the turbo and I believe engine for sale.

The Turbo motor, isn't worth much.  I've got the one I took out of my truck, and I can't sell that damn thing.  Everybody that wants them, don't want to give a penny for them.

I don't think there has been any interest at all in this guys motor. Believe he was asking $ 300.
I would have liked the t-case to go with the transmission but he was using it.
He is keeping the ifs.

You can use a 21 spline t-case if you put in a 23 spline input gear. Direct swap. The bearing and snap ring is the same too. Just need a gear.

Is the trans set up for a forward shift or top shift case? Shift rails are interchangable too so not a big deal to find a t-case that will work.
