88 v6 pick up 5 Speed, found 97 v6 motor help advise
« on: Feb 01, 2005, 04:27:39 PM »
Any one had any experience with fitting a newer 24 valve V6 (97) to an 88 fuel injected V6 toyota pick up?  I found a deal on a 97 V6 with auto trans. Motor is going for $700, millage 135000. Wil my old trans and flywheel mate up with it? Almost seems like to much BS to deal with?

I'm not totally up on that conversion, but I think it's doable. I think the tranny is the least of your troubles. The wiring will be a bit more of an issue. Try calling the guys at www.offroadsolutions.com they make a kit to install the 3.4 into earlier trucks.
