External Fuel pumps, what are you running.
« on: Jan 14, 2011, 05:04:53 PM »
I need a new fuel pump for my Runner.  For those that run an external pump, from their fuel cell, what are you running ?  Mine, it seems, is on its last leg.  I run an Airtex MPI pump, and its getting noisy and is causing issues.  Its about 6 years old, and I ran it with the Supra Motor, and now the 4.3 CPI.  Should I go with the same pump or is there better pumps ? in the $140 range ?

I am ok with 50 PSI or anything higher, 3/8 output is a must.

why dont you look into the corvette pumps n regulators. they run like 80-90psi.
Saw a segment on Xtreme 4x4 not too long ago on LS swaps and thats what they recommended.

 Good idea.  I don't need the regulator.  Just want something quiet and reliable.

I have ran in tank Toy, and Chevy and nothing can beat them.  The external pumps always seem to have an issue after so many years.  If I can't find something good then I'll mod the tank, and drop one in.

That is because they are not sitting in a liquid to keep them cool.

My failing one is an E8228, the lift on an E8000 is not enough in my app, I might just get the high performance MPI replacement E8248.   All the ones mentioned are rollervane, the E8000 is the generic EFI replacement.  The E8090 is the carbed one asked about earlier (5-9 psi).  All are Airtex.

Yeah thanks Dan, I have been all over.  I'll stick Airtex pump, cause at least I now it works.  There is a huge price jump if I want anything better.  Right now I am broke and Runner is dead, kid-wife-then runner.
