Need help with Popping Noise
« on: Jan 03, 2011, 12:00:34 AM »
Here's my problem....everytime I turn left, I get a popping noise. Sounds like it's coming from my Drivers tie rod.
Didn't hav ethis problem before...I have new tie rod ends on both sides. I re-checked my installation and everything seems pretty sound and tight. Castle nut isn't resting on cotter pin so it's not backing out.\

What could it be?  :headscratch: :hammerhead:

my springs make a popping noise when i turn sometimes. does it do it at real slow speeds or just on the road? mine was real slow so i had a buddy walk with me putting his hand places to feel for a pop. ended up being my springs.

it takes place at a dead stop making a turn or parked and turning....popping takes place under 2wd....can't be trunnion bearings or birfs.....replaced trunnion bearing w/ trunnion eleminator kit and I also have 30 spline chromos....popping took place before kit was installed.

I inspected my 30's and are in great condition.....haven't checked my springs yet but it feels like it's coming from my drag links. You can some what feel the pop when you turn left but both drag links are snug and sound.

If you have hy-steer you only have one drag-link and one tierod. Drag-link goes from steering box to PS steering arm, tierod from steering arm to steering arm.

How often do you check the torque on your knuckle bolts, upper and lower. If you have stock studs, 71 ft lbs. Also check the U-bolts, 90-100 ft lbs is good for them.

This is totally your spring , go out look at the front hanger
Mabe u can see a spring to the left  " both sides" but ant way
Check your center pins some times they sheer off and or the u bolts get loose

But I'm almost sure. Pop is a leaf movin around , mine was driver front!!
Hope this helps
