Part Out OR Build it????????
« on: Jul 29, 2010, 10:10:30 AM »
I've got a 1975 FJ40 project that I originally bought back in 2000 while in Junior college. I bought it pretty much in stock condition except it had a GM 283 dropped in place of the 2F.  Over the past 10 years I have slowly worked on it through college and into my career. The FJ is now sitting in pieces in my garage with:
  • fully rebuilt bored and cammed GM 283, Edlebrock Performer intake with matching 500 CFM carb, engine has original rebuilt Power Pack heads with hardened seats installed
  • Profitt's Cruisers SOA lift on 4" springs
  • Aqualu aluminum tub and front fenders
  • all other original body metal has been blasted and painted the original T309, Freeborn Red with acrylic paint
  • rear axle has Detroit, 4.88 gears, and Man-a-fre disk brake conversion
  • front axle has ARB, 4.88 gears, and factory disk brakes (all new)
  • have Corbeau seats to go in if it makes it that far
  • plans for a full roll cage install but not purchased as of yet
  • the front knuckles were also swapped with the late model knuckles and have Marlin 25mm full kit and high steer
  • No new driveshafts have been ordered as of yet either
  • all of the wiring was gone through and redone after a slight fire after I first bought too

Basically, I'm loosing interest or have lost interest and was curious should I get all I have completed and sell as a whole or just stop work as it sits and part it out?  I know most people don't want to take on someone else's project but some people like that.  After 10 years I guess still not having it complete has got me discouraged to the point of failure.

What would you do???

finish it and wheel it!! I bet if you build it up that the first time you drive it you will want to keep it. if you have lost all interest in the fj, then i would say part it out.
