most definately the fron drive shaft. cv's spind fine by hand but the driveshaft binds in one position. so my next question is whats a good upgrade? i plan on doing a 3in lift w/ 33's so i can learn to wheel it better before i go to sas.

as it is still a dd i need 4wd during the winter but there's no excuse for driving a broken truck. i talked to a buddy whos the car/truck guy (i know motorcycles) and he suggested it may just be the u joints, so ill check those but with 228k and beating on it all through high skool i think it would just be better to replace the whole thing.

Spuds,

I think your bud's right about the u-joint. Had the same thing happen to my 86 4Runner. I checked the drive shaft for sloppyness and it was tight so I missed it at first.

It was actually a siezed u-joint bearing on one side. Made it wobble bad.
