how can i test 22re computer
« on: Dec 21, 2009, 04:55:19 PM »
i have a 1985 22RE. i am having problems getting my engine to idle. the tps is working well and is adjusted correctly. when i jump the two terminals together, when adjusting the timing the engine's RPMs have no change what so ever. i don't know where to go from here???? is there a way to test the computer?

not sure how you checked your tps but if your idle does not bump up after you ground TE and E1 its your tps. i don't think it would be your ECU, but anything is possible
never once have i ever wanted to see the reduce speed ahead sign so bad

88 ecu won't work!

84 to 87
88 on it's own due to different injector setup, different resistance and ohms to operate
89 to 94

All the research I read on injectors for toyota's had this listed.  But I never tried it.  That's just what I found.  Cause I was trying to figure out what would work on a 22RE from a 22RTE.  And the injectors and ecm wouldn't, along with a few other minor items.

You paid 197.00 dollars for a TPS, wow. You can get a new TPS for 65.00 - 85.00 dollars, depending on were you buy it from.
