Quest for Marlin
« on: Dec 12, 2004, 05:15:50 PM »
HI Marlin
I am getting your duals cases to suit my A343F automatic transmission its a 1992 4runner with RHS output and solid axle .
You posted in reply to me a while ago about the adaptor and coupler and oversize bearing that i need .     http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=3125.0
Just a couple of  Qs
How does the auto oil stop from entering the housing with the new coupler?
Where does the oversize bearing go and will it be easy to fit?, my tcase has a electric speedo sender will the electric speed sender for the V6 work ive ordered it also the coupler does it have to be fitted in any special manner?.

Just need to know what i need to do when i get it all
Thanks Dave

Hey Marlin
There is a thread on pirate that the coupler for the auto to duals is leaking is this correct?
And they are saying that the coupler is off the market does this mean no more dual cases?
Help Dave

To begin with, remember, you must have a auto that has a 8 or 9 external bolts holding the t-case to the trans.

We supply a new transmission output seal to keep the oil in the auto trans.

The supplied oversize bearing in located in the transmission rear extensition housing and is simple to replace.
As I recall, 8 bolts need to be removed [5 outside, 3 inside], and after removing the housing, a snap ring is then removed, and the bearing taps out.

The chain driven electric speedo drive will not work in a gear case. I made an adapter to reuse it, but due to slow sales, we discontinued it. We now use a '92-'95 gear driven sender.

The new coupler must be installed with a dead blow hammer untill it bottoms out on the trans output shaft.

Yes, you are correct. We have had issues with the trans oil that comes out of the drilled output shaft getting into the Marlin box. We are now waiting for Japan to make a custom coupler for the auto application.

Marlin do you send instructions on how to install with the dual cases .
Im a little worried now  :shudder:  i cant fit this myself due to a broken neck so i have to get some1 to do it for me .
Or should i not go with duals ? Because of auto.
Im in australia so i need as few problems as possible .
Do you fit the coupler last then fit the gear cases to the housing ?
Sorry for all the Qs just wanna get it right.
Dave

I figured your A343F auto had the unboltable t-case............
We have sent a sample to Japan to have the auto coupler made with a plug in the center.
I still have not heard back from the shop so I do not know how long it will be.
At most it would be 3 mounts or less.

I still have an adapter to make the chain driven electric speedo work with gear driven case. I recall it costing around $50.00.
I beleive we still have instructions, but will need to check to make sure.
Yes, the coupler is installed, and them the cases are bolted on.

Wishing you a healthful speedy recovery

When i twisted my knee playing baseball, it really set me back.
I can only wonder how it would be with a broken neck.

So i know exactly what to put in the letter when i re order could you tell me if the auto adaptor plate is the 30-AT? The bolt pattern looks the same as the r150f. and has 23 splines.
Mike did tell me it was the 30-AT but ive lost where i put it  :_oops:
And what part number the speedo adaptor will be .
Thanks
Dave
