Topic: w56 tanny only has 4th gear?

I have a w56 transmission that only has 4th gear. 1,2,3,5, and reverse act like neutral. i was sure if i should post this under drivetrain or noob questions but i searched and couldnt find anything. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? thanks for any advice ahead of time.

sounds like it broke. It's pretty much easier just to replace it them to try and fix it. Not sure were your from but in so cal you can find a good used trany for around 100 bucks

haha it definantly sounds broke. I already have and installed a new tranny but i was debating rebuilding this one as a spare or selling it. i guess ill just see if any of my friends need a tranny for a core charge. Thanks.
