Leaf spring re-arching
« on: Feb 05, 2010, 06:35:31 PM »
I am looking for a company down here in SoCal that does leaf spring re-arching. My fronts are about flat.  Anyone know of a shop and how much do they charge?

In my opinion it is a waste of money. I had a set re-arched many years ago, lasted about ten seconds when I hit the gatekeeper on the Con.

Years ago I had the rears re-arched on my 86 4Runner and it cost me about $100. It road like a stink bug for about 6 months and once settled in they were fine for many years.

I went to the same spring shop recently and the cost was going to be over $400 for the rears on my 88 pickup. I found some on Summit for about $150. I believe they were Skyjacker.

I found the part numbers for aftermarket springs and then typed them into Summit's search.

You should be able to rebuild both sets using your mains and some used leaf packs from the wrecking yard for less then $100.

You could build a pack for that price and it would most likely be twice as good.
