there is a guy that did it on this forum.  I think it was the "red X" build thread,  somethin about inchworm beadlocks.  inchworm makes a kit to do that now

Yea thomas has them

Seems alright, i personally wouldn't use them but to each their own..

Once you eliminate all the air leaks then they should be fine..

I personally wouldn't do this.  Drag racers used to do this, which was fine, cause the tires didn't last more than a couple races.  But when your screwing right into the steel bundle, which is part of the integrity of the tire.  You risking on having the sidewall coming apart on you.  Especially on the hwy.  This is called tire separation.

Well they are not supposed to screw into the tire themselves..
The screws are supposed to be just inside the lip of the tire so that the tire cannot be pushed off the bead.

Would be the same effect as welding a bead around the rim

I'd weld a piece of wire around the safety bead before I'd mess with a set of screws that are waiting to leak...  One thing no one mentions is once you drop the air pressure down the rim will spin inside the tire very easily.. I've seen a few sets of tires ruined when the beads are torn apart and they won't hold air at all...
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Two buddies started running this type of bead lock last year, one bought the rims already done and the other copied the idea.  On the few runs they have gone on it seems to work, what damage is/isn't taking place to inner side of the is unknown.  As mentioned the idea isn't to screw into the bead, but run along the back edge, likely(didn't see either set w/o tires on it) either along the safety bead, or just to the inside.

If I was to do this(current plans are to get stauns) I would use some grade 8 bolts, with the thread(sections above the rim) ground smooth as well as glue for the bead.  This should help to keep the bead from slipping and reducing the amount of where on the inner side of the bead when aired down.

I think one would be better of just welding a bigger safety bead, it certainly wouldn't take as long and wouldn't have the possible side effects.  It might not hold as well, but then again a blown bead isn't that big of an issue on the trail, it only takes a few minutes to dig out the snow and reseat it.
