Binding Problem.
« on: Nov 13, 2004, 06:57:45 AM »
 :rivers:

I have a strange problem.  Let me paint the picture, I have a 91 4Runner with the 4.71 tcase, 488s, full detroit rear, and tru trac up front, all pro ebrake on the dshaft, SAS, rear leaf swap, etc.

When ever my tcase is in 4high somewhere in the rear I get binding.  Now it is happening in 2 high.

Not all the time:  I would gently apply the brakes and just as I approach 1-2 miles an hour I will feel as I am locking up.  When I gently/slowly let out the clutch I will bind and sometimes stall.

This sounds strange and I cannot figure it out.  Thoughts?

 :dunno:

do you have some sort of clip on the tcase brake shoe to pull it away when its released??,  take the shoe off it and see if that does the trick

its doing it when he's using his brakes, not his e-brake.

could your shoes be so far out of adjustment that they are getting wedged into the drum?

Check the e-brake connections at each drum. I had a similar problem with my 83 and it was caused by rusted brackets at the drum, causing the e-brake to not fully release.

I am lazy.  I am going to disconnect my ebrake in a few minutes.  Keep in mind my ebrake is on the driveshaft.  I completely to out the ebrakes on the wheel drums.

Guys, it was not my ebrake.  I am confused.

I installed the Trutrack because I snow board.  If my front end is not locking up I apply a little brake pressure.  Keep in mind I have a full detroit in the rear mated with my Marlin Crawler 4.7:1.
