Bs85 ,I like the way your truck turned out with the bob bed and lift !I  have been busy with work and it seems like I'm never off in the day time. Hope mine flexs like yours when I get a chance to  flex it out. Are you running bump stops? If so how long are they

nope no bump stops the tires rub the frame right when the springs start to no negative so until i get spacers for the rear i dont need any bump stops... kinda okie but it works

On the same topic, sorry to hijack, running the F150s backwards. So if the F150s have a 25.5" front half and a 31.5" rear half and you turn them around, now the rear if is the front, that means you move the front hanger forward 11". Right? 85 Toy rears have a front half length of 20.5".

Now that leaves the back half of the spring... F150s backward have a back half length of 25.5" and 85 Toys have a back half length of 27.5"... I move the rear hanger FORWARD 2"? Or are my numbers/math all wrong?


But another question, is running the F150s backwards going to add anything?

Math is pretty close to right. I moved my forward 11.5" and I think I could've gone another half inch or inch. They move in an arc backwards, so I was trying to get them to the front as much as I could.

This reversal from factory helps with the departure angle, especially on a 4Runner if you plan to bob it (like I do). The downside is that it points your pinion down a little more than if  mounting the springs short forward.

i have these ford springs too, goin to put them on my 92 toy.  the stock toy springs are longer so it doesnt look like i will have to move the front hanger forward much more.  i mocked them up yesterday, it does however look as though i will need to move the shackle hanger forward a bit. had bad shackle angle testing it.

theoretically your shackle should be vertical or slightly forward when the springs have no load correct?

i have some new perchs to weld up on the axle to compensate for any rotation and to recenter the axle up.

I see how new perches would allow you to rotate the pinion up, but how do you plan to "recenter the axle" with new perches? You should center your axle with the front spring hanger.

The shackle angle, I believe, should be about 30* from vertical to allow good compression and droop. If you have it at vertical, you limit droop and might even allow it to go the other way and get stuck that way. Say goodbye to your springs if that happens. They'll probably get all jacked up. Too far from vertical and you limit compression travel cuz it'll bottom out on the frame.

You should move the front hanger forward about 4~5" from eye to eye and the rear shackle hanger probably needs to be moved back. Unless you're running these backwards. That's a whole 'nother cup o' tea! Haha!

sorry guess what i meant by the spring perches is i have a TG perch that three holes drilled in it for different positions on em 

but from my mock up i did yesterday it looks i will have to move the shackle hanger forward when mountin the springs reversed. 

and my toy rears are longer than yours so my front hanger distance might not be as much i would think.

Yep, I think your rears are 52s? I had to move my rear shackle hanger forward about 4", so that sounds right for you to move it.

I wouldn't rely on the perches to center your axle. You make it harder on yourself when it comes time to make your u-bolt flip kit. I just used the factory ford u-bolts and plate. Free flip kit. If you don't center the leaves on your spring perch, you can't use those.
