crawler setup
« on: Jul 24, 2009, 12:44:54 PM »
hey just wondering what's optimum setup for a crawler and does it matter if they all have a 23 output or shift style combo (top/top, 4ward/top, top/4ward, 4ward/4ward)

i currently have a top shift that's getting rebuilt with a 2.28 total spline with 23 input, 30 output,hd seal/rebuild and single stick

now later down the line i may want to go with duals so..

mc07 with 23 input 10deg rotated?
rear 4ward case, twin stick, 4.7 gear, 23 input, 30 spline output with HD seal

so yea, main question is does the shift style config matter

I may be mistaken but i think you have to run a top shift in the rear cause the shifting rails in the forward shift t-cases stick out of the tansfercase but not sure if they make an adapter for that.

You need a top shift for the rear case, the forward case needs to match the trans you are using. you can run both with 23 spline if your trans is a 23 spline if not the forward case will need to be 21 spline. 2.28 in the front case, 4.7 in the  rear case with 23 spline and twin stick is the norm. Hope this helps.

hey, just one last set of questions..

so the rear case is youre regular case, and the front case sandwichs the adapter?

so i can have a 23 spline 2.28 for the rear case with twin sticks and front case could have the 23 spline input and 4.7 gear?
lastly they both can still get the 30 spline output?..or would the front case not need it since its been seperated for the mc07?

thanks again
Mike

The front case is just the forward part of the case (reduction box) it has the 23 spline 2.28 gears, the rear case is the full case and has the 23 spline 4.7's with twin stick the output remains the same as stock. Yes, the front and rear are joined between the MC07.
