open Air intake (feeler)
« on: Jul 10, 2009, 06:07:13 PM »
Ok so I've built a (edit)open(edit) air intake for my truck. im wondering who would be interested in an intake if i started making these and selling them.

clamps will be top of the line T-clamps

filter adapter will be spectre toyota adapter. (i'm going to see if i can make one for less)

the elbow and hump hose can be black blue or red per request. outherwise it will be full black with red cone filter and red breather.

pricing would be about $175 for it ready to go

here it is installed on my truck. sorry its all dirty

options for filters would be

this one is with a full covered splash shild (only avalable in this type)

this one is avalable in blue red or green

this one is avalable in chrome, black, bule or red rings

let me know what you guys think.  PM me if your really interested

This is not cold air, it would be in the fender well or sealed off from the rest of the engine compartment if it was

No offense, just bringing that to light. What are the benefits of this other than increased air flow? Oiled K&N air filters or high performance paper filters

all of the filters are high flow reuseable. very simmilar to K&N just a less expensive type. very good quality. all oild type. the foam round one is probably your best option. i tell ya what, if i can talk to the people i'm ordering this stuff from i can probably build it for less say $125?

how long have you had one on your truck. Have you pulled the tubes and looked at the throttle plates to see if any black tarnish is building up? I have heard of people having issues with filter oil blow by building up on MAF and throttle plates... have you experienced this?

no you wont either as long as you keep it oiled correctly. doesnt need much just a little bit ive been running this only for a little while but ive ran a K&N filter since i bought the truck and never had an issue. took a 2hr trip to marble wheeled 8hrs and drove back to GJ and got 23MPG's! ove 18MP's. i have some ignition upgrades too but it does gret performance wise and helps fuel econmey a bunch.

reasoning for painting the tube black: 1: its cheaper. 2: it actually keeps some of the engine heat out. all those stainless and chrome ones actually absorb heat. the cooler air you can get the better it'll run

should be white then, white reflects the heat, black absorbs
It goes, but is it ever finished?
