locking hub question

OK heres my problem when i go to put the most outer part with the dial on if it's in the lock postion it locks the axle but won't release . if i install it in the free position it won't lock the axle . do i have the spring in the gear in the wrong spot ? or something to do with the springs or gear assembly ? please help

take it apart and flip the spring :dunno:

Turn the dial to the left then push the locking gear in and to the left  :think: till it stays all the way down. Then reinstall it.

The dial only turns so far, so if you don't have the locking gear in the correct position it won't move at all.
