If I remember right when I did mine the front hanger I built eneded up being like an inch and a half forward but 44044's do not (by themselves) move your axle forward. They are the same length on the front half as stock toys (22.5"). While they do move the axle forward because of the lift they provide (arch in spring), when they compress to the point that they are flat, it's the same. Estimated 1/2" of actual axle relocation forward.

No you do not have to do anything to the front hanger, but over time, if you are running big tires, you will eventually tear the framerail away from the front crossmember.  So a drop hanger allows you to really beef up that junction.

Disclaimer:  If your not wheeling hard you can get by without reinforcing the frame.
According to a recent study, 50% of all statistics are correct.

Sky manufacturing has axle relocation plates you can use to shove the axle 3/4 or 1" forward if you want.  http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/  Go to the toyota page, click suspension and look at about the 5th item down.  They're pretty cheap too.
