alternator tech
« on: Nov 05, 2007, 10:13:05 PM »
well, i am thinking of switching back to a stock size higher amp. alternator from my GM 140 amp. 1 wire. I think it is hurting stuff and after two years of having it and going through four batteries and two alternators I might change back to factory configuration . oh yea, after reading stuff on this site, things are starting to make sense.

yes it is GM related, but it's all kind of the same for the most part. right?

now the only things i run in my truck that draw more power than the regular accessories are lights and a winch. so my thoughts were that I could run dual batteries and an upgraded 90 amp. stock sized alternator and that would be sufficient enough for all that and maybe a tiny bit more down the road.

so what do you all run- as in accessories, alternators, and batteries and is what you have good or could it be better in any way?

oh yea, if I didn't mention this before  :help:

you think nobody cares about you? try missing a couple of car payments.

I like to leave stuff stock or close anyway, upgrading your alternator is a good idea,a coordinating regulator too,I think the way to go is a good quality battery isolator,a friend of mine has 1 battery for starting, and 2 batteries to run his winch, linear, and any other high amperage toy he wants
