Are you talking about the cone washers behind the nut that hold the lock/unlock hub on? If so they are a pain because as the nut get tight it pushes the taper together more. If you tap on the stud with a soft hammer it may loosen the washers up (I would leave the nut loose on the stud in case to mess the threads up you can use the nut to clean them back up). Or you might try putting two nuts on the studs and tighten the nuts together and use them to remove the studs from the hub mount.

Hope this helped
Scott

hit the hub body side to side, not too hard but not too soft.  the side to side motion should loosen them up.  don't hit the studs but the body they go into.

Yes the rubber mallet is best, smack the black part of the hub side to side top and bottom and it will slowly work the cones out.

I put a little bit of anti-sleeze on the conical washers when I re-install them

I just use a chisel I filed down to fit in the crack. A few whacks on that, and the cone comes right out. Don't use screwdrivers though! They break and leave metal chunks in the slit of the cone washer. I will probably try the hit the body with a hammer method next time to see if it is easier.

I've alway loosing the cone washers by tapping the body with a hammer and then any that didn't want to slide right off I would use a screwdriver in the slot from the side of the cone washer. Tap it in with my hand and slide it off.

Haven't ever had that problem yet, but probably some good advice just in case.

Haven't done this for the hubs, but probably not a bad time to start. Although I do do this to the cone washer on my Hi-steer arms.
