I have heard of a lot of people having issues with LC built engines, their parts are great, but from what I hear their crate motors aren't. I have never heard anything bad about DOA.

I have a DOA built 22re and I love it. Everyone that rides in my 4runner is amazed at how peppy it is, even with a full load.

I had a few problems with my LC pro-stroker stage 1 when I first bought my truck...but with the help from the board it is now a good running motor.  I recently had to put in 4.10 gears (not by choice) and I pass others on the highway (speed limit is 75).  Are you going with FI or carb?

ok, here it is http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=34912.0  The integrity of the motor was good, it was just all of the other EFI stuff that was giving me problems.  It does still have a bit of a sputter in the morning, but it gives me the power I need right now.  The only thing I would say about LC is that the customer service is not that great.  Out of about 5 calls to them only 1 was good (and actually helpful).

yea that's not bad at all, but my main buying point is thr lifetime/unlimited warrenty they offer

79coyotefrg, with those 9.7 kb pistons do you have to relocate the knock sensor or is that just for forged pistions?

i've heard of a lot of problems with LCE engines. but i've never heard of any to speak of from DOA engines. i'd go with them just because of that and they're generally cheaper than LCE. also if you are up north close to Washington i think there is a guy at www.engnbldr.com who does really good work i've heard. i don't think you can buy a built engine from him but he will rebuild for you if you want. of course if you really wanted you could rebuild it yourself.
lets not and say we did.

I didnt actually buy the engine myself, the PO did about 8 months before he sold me the truck. If i remember correctly, he said it was close to a $3,000 engine. looking at DOAs website that seems about right.
